Minneapolis Design Studio Curb Crowser Announces Evolution to Minnow

New name and identity supports agency’s new capabilities, services and people; reinforces commitment to strong relationships with employees and clients

MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 1, 2020) — Curb Crowser, an independent Minneapolis-based design studio, today announced its evolution to a completely new organization: Minnow. The comprehensive change elevates the agency’s focus on delivering high-quality creative value for clients and includes a new name, logo, capabilities and more. For 25 years, the studio has been a creative force behind numerous brands, from massive, iconic organizations like General Mills and Polaris Industries to smaller but no less innovative companies like Anagram and Abdallah Chocolates. The official brand shift comes several years after both founders – Tracie Curb and Tom Crowser – retired from the studio, making way for new leadership and opportunities. The studio’s evolution hit another milestone in 2017, when partners Dean Forbes (Chief Executive Officer) and Shandra Zurn (Vice President) brought on Twin Cities agency veteran Nick Smasal as the Executive Creative Director and third partner. Smasal’s previous experience includes stints at FAME, Olson and Solve, working with brands including Coca-Cola, Target, My Burger and the Minnesota Lottery. Since Smasal’s arrival, the studio has strengthened its existing client relationships in the consumer packaged goods space with its expertise in shopper and retail marketing. But it has also evolved into new areas of expertise with strategic hires that bring an expanded set of capabilities, featuring strategy, brand development, and elevated design. The studio has gone through a dramatic transformation and is now a growing, experienced veteran team focused on a seamless, satisfying and fun process for both its clients and its internal team. Minnow leads with a renewed focus on service excellence for clients regardless of project size or length to deliver the best value. Like its animal namesake, the agency is unexpected and unassuming — like-minded individuals all swimming in the same direction. “Our new name is simple on purpose,” says Forbes. “It reinforces that we are a team working together towards a common goal to deliver honest, beautiful work and purposeful value for our clients – without façade or gimmicks.” Minnow’s newest team member, Savannah Goodwin, Director of Marketing and New Business, is focused on expanding the studio’s business across industries in and outside of Minnesota.
